Nguyễn Minh Thành was born in Hanoi, used to live and work between Hanoi and Đà Lạt. After about 10 years living quietly in Đà Lạt, he returned to Hanoi. Nguyễn Minh Thành  graduated from Hanoi University of Fine Arts (1996).

Nguyễn Minh Thành works with painting and installation. Early on, his practice focused on installation. He uses materials from everyday life in his installations conceptually and contemplatively. Nguyễn Minh Thành's paintings, inspired by Buddhism, are the result of his search for inner harmony and peace.
