The City Tumor simulates an uncontrollable protrusion in contemporary urban culture. As a starting point, the work deals with two Bauxite processing plants in Tan Rai and Nhan Co during the time they got greenlit by the government - despite objections from experts, who cited risks of leakage of red mud discharged from bauxite processing in highland areas as a threat to the living habitat in downstream regions during rainy season.
The work is part of the exhibition Bloatedly Heavy, Ephemerally Light curated by Tran Luong within the framework of Festival Hue 2010.
