Statement

From the data collected through my interviews and conversations with the Vietnamese migrants, I created 348 ID cards for 348 stateless migrants. These cards were printed on their old clothes, overwriting oil stains, worn places and stitches. I wanted to create ID cards that bore no stamps nor traces of specific territory or nation. This work examines the importance of an identity issued by the government in order to guarantee employment, accommodation and education, as well as how this condition affects one’s education, economic and social state, together with their quality of life.
