Dinh Q. Lê (Vietnamese name: Lê Quang Đỉnh), born in Hà Tiên, Vietnam, received his BA in Art Studio at UC Santa Barbara (1989) and his MFA in Photography and Related Media at The School of Visual Arts in New York City (1992). In 1994 he returned to Vietnam, and permanently relocated to Ho Chi Minh City in 1997.

His creative journey has always challenged how memories are evoked in the context of contemporary life. He invokes the power of films and media in the works that are grounded in historical heritage, expresses the confluence between cultural tradition and contemporary tragedy in woven photographic works, rearranges urban objects into artistic wonders, or documents untold stories of people who endured the first helicopter war; all of these are testament to his commitment to the creative process as a means to excavating history, in the discovery and revelation of alternative ideas for loss and redemption.

Lê Quang Đỉnh co-founded Vietnam Foundation for the Arts (VNFA) - the non-profit contemporary art community in Los Angeles, and Sàn Art in Vietnam. He is also a board member of the Arts Network Asia Peer Panel, Danish Embassy's Cultural Development and Exchange Fund, Asia Society Global Council, and Guggenheim Asian Council.
